Today we were supposed to go ashore in Athens, but we heard it was all ruins so we skipped it! LOL Seriously, we were still pretty worn out from Dubrovnik, and liked the day at sea so much we decided to have another one. So we slept in, stayed on board, and goofed off!
Right below our stateroom window, the crew was practicing lifeboat drills. The craft are on hydraulic lifts that swing away from the ship, then lower the boats to the water. They also did drills, such as a simulated fire on a crew deck, and a general alarm. Fascinating to watch, and I hope we never have to see this activity up close and personal.
More jigsaw puzzle and reading time, and before we knew it it was time for dinner at our regular table in the Concerto dining room. We're on the early seating (5:30pm), so we were done in time to watch the ship slowly turn around in place and leave the harbor. It took two tugboats to help us, due to the tight area and the choppy water.
On to Kusadasi, Turkey!
